Drug and Alcohol Awareness
(Grades 5-8)
Drug and Alcohol Prevention Education is provided for all students monthly via Lawrence County Drug and Alcohol Commission. Students have classes dedicated to educating and informing them of the risks of using drugs and alcohol. The instructor utilizes various mediums to convey the anti-drug message, including video, lecture, small group work, and therapeutic activities.
Students may also access additional support through Union Area High School Student Assistance Program. Team members include: Mr. David Nerti (High School Principal), Mrs. Patti Blazejewski (School Nurse), Mrs. Christine Cataloni (High School Counselor), Mr. Mike Ross (Middle School Counselor), Mr. Robert Walman (School Psychologist), and representatives from Lawrence County Drug and Alcohol Commission and Human Services Center.
